Q: What is a book you didn’t like that all your friends raved about or what book did you love that wasn’t popular?
I’m sure I’ve loved many a book that weren’t that widely popular. I wouldn’t even know where to start with that part of the question. Perhaps a good example would be Dan Brown books? But… some of his books are best sellers, so I’m clearly not the only that likes them.
As far as books that everyone else raved about, but I didn’t love? The first book that came to mind was Savage Grace by Bree Despain. When that book was released, all fans of the Dark Devine series were raving about it. I was left feeling very unsatisfied by it. Not just the way the series wrapped up, but the writing on the last book as well. It was a bummer for me.
There is another from just this week. I recently finished The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. People have been telling me to read this book for a long time now. And everyone is so over the moon about it. I was left with some really vague and slightly disappointed feelings. I haven’t even written up the review yet for this one, and am not looking forward to it. I know I have friends that will be disappointed that I didn’t love it.
Do you have any widely popular books that fell short for you?
