The Indigo Spell by Richelle Mead is the third book in the Bloodlines Series, following The Golden Lily.
This book was fabulous!! We finally get to see a lot of Sydney’s prejudices break down, and the struggles she goes through in that process make her character growth more dynamic. And this plot gives us some mystery about why Sydney has the prejudices she has, and if they even really belong to her. Our new character, Marcus Finch, helps her to realize that the Alchemists have a lot of rather scary secrets. And Sydney has to deal with that at the same time she has to deal with the fact that her new found abilities with magic have made her a target among witches.
And, of course, the romance between Adrian and Sydney heats up. We were all hoping for that, and this book didn’t disappoint. In fact, if I had any critiques about this book, it would be that the story SO focused on Adrian and Sydney, that I missed the other characters a bit. I am hoping the next book gives us some more about Jill, Eddie, and Angeline. Especially poor Eddie. Someone needs to give that kid a break.
The Fiery Heart is set to come out later this year, and I can’t wait. The end of this book was almost tied up into a nice little bow, when Mead introduced something new that turned everything on its head. I can’t wait to find out what happens next.
I know they’re working on a movie for the Vampire Academy series, for which the Bloodlines series is the spin off. I’m excited about that, because I liked the series. But now? Mostly I’m just hoping it does well enough to continue with movies for Bloodlines too. I’m loving this series so much more than Vampire Academy. Seeing it on screen would be fangirl awesome.

I totally love this series too! I remember picking Vampire Academy because it seemed like a light cheesy book, but it was really good! I'm mixed on the idea of it becoming a movie. Beautiful Creatures was such a let down and it left out the most important part of the plot that follows through into the last one.
ReplyDeleteThat is always the fear with a movie adaptation. And the reason I'm so worried about the VA movie is that if it IS awful, there is no hope of a Bloodlines one.
DeleteThat's good to know about Beautiful Creatures, though. I haven't read it, but was going to hurry up and do so before I see the movie. I guess there is no rush, then?
No, not in my opinion. It was certainly interesting so to speak if you never read it, but they left out SO much and so many important characters and all.
